There is so much happening in Spider that we had to split things into two releases 😊

In the version, we worked on the APIs and added a new API page for Integration Setup. You can find all Spider API pages in the Technical referenceWe also added FunctionData in the API – Integration QueueWhen it comes to External Systems we changed the Copy External System From action to only require that the Code field is specified on the external system.

We changed the procedure in the integration queue to fetch the integration category from the linked entry instead (only applies when an entry has a linked entry).

Last but not least we added a new code unit, QWESR JQ Ext. Sys. FullSync, with ID 70314209 which can be set up in a job queue to perform a full sync of the specified external system.

In this release of Spider we had an extra focus on External Systems.

When setting up an External system of the type Sync to Company we have Added that the Sync to Company Guide starts automatically after the External System Setup Guide is completed. Of course, this only applies when the Type is set to Sync to Company.

Speaking of Sync to Company, we added that fields specified to be logged in the External Systems Guide are now also automatically set to be synced.

We added the primary key fields to automatically set to Sync and/or Log depending on the Type on the External System.

A new action has been added, Copy External System from,  this action is added on the External System Card, and makes it possible to export and import external systems.

We also added the ability to set a Target Field No. on a Field Transformation. For example, Field No. 1 can now be synchronized to Field No. 2. This is particularly useful when Field No. 2 exists only in the recipient’s system.

Another cool feature we added is the ability to specify filters in a related table of the table set up on the Table Setup FastTab. Select Filter in the Relation Type field to be able to specify the related table in the Relate Table No. field.

In addition to working on External Systems, we added the possibility to select and use the Extra Fields in the Customer, Item, and Vendor Template.

Last but not least, we have changed and synchronized our API pages with version 23.3 of the Business Central standard API, ensuring they remain updated with any changes.

Looking at the list of contenders we found that a few of the partners we were hoping to talk to were missing and to top it off we forgot “the best candy ever” (real quote from last year) at home.

But, as they say, just make it work!!  We may, or may not, have borrowed a flower from the hotel room in an attempt to make our booth look a bit more welcoming. We put on our new fancy purple sweaters, a big smile, and waited for the first person to walk by.

Well, it took five minutes, not hours like we pessimistically expected and off we were. I dare to say that during every break, and even during sessions sometimes, we had visitors in our booth. We got to demo our apps to people who were truly interested and whom we hope to partner with shortly.

We also hosted a session as we were a sponsor, “Manage multiple companies in less time”, and we must have done something good in our promotion of the session, there were not only people we knew in the room😊 Maybe it was the speaker which we raffled off during the session, but we choose to focus on the positive, there were more people there than our session last year and the response and reviews were positive💜

To sum things up we had our best Days of Knowledge yet!! This was our third visit, and the feeling we started with quickly turned into big smiles as we got to talk to both new and old friends.

For a while now we have felt that Parrot needs to grow and become “meatier” as we call it.  

We were missing those parts that made it easier to analyze contracts directly in Business Central. Adding a new action on the Contracts list called Contract Analysis, where a page shows several new calculated fields, will do exactly this. We have also added a new FactBox pane, featuring the same calculated fields, to the Contract and Contract list.

With this, you will have historic numbers like Balance (LCY), Net Change (LCY), and Not Posted Amount as well as Forecast numbers like Calculated Amount Per Year (LCY) to mention some.

We have also added functionality to configure a warning if a Contract Line reaches its end date within a specified interval. The No. field on the Contract page turns red if a contract line is within the range for the warning.

In short, we sent Poppy to the gym 😊

Whilst she was there, she also added Name 2 from the Customer card to the contract, including Sell-to, Bill-to, and Ship-to details as well as functionality to the Copy Contract action, The Location Code is now also copied.

Last but not least, we added a report called Enable Collective Invoicing on Contracts to enable Collective Invoicing for multiple contracts simultaneously.

If you use User-defined KPIs in Eagle you need to check out this release of Eagle. We have added Prefix and Suffix options for User-defined KPIs. This can be useful if you want to add a currency symbol or a percentage sign. We have also added a rounding for User-defined KPIs. Specifies the rounding code to use for the calculated value. This can be useful if you want to round the calculated value to a certain number of decimals. You can also use upper and lower thresholds on User-defined KPIs. If the calculated value is between the thresholds, the value will be shown as 0.

We fixed an issue that occurred when using the Add to Role Center or Add to Activities actions on the User-defined KPIs (My – This Company) page and changed the date preview in the Use Template guide on the Eagle KPIs Setup page to the current day instead of the work date.

We improved error handling for better capture and presentation of errors. Errors are now managed through an error message handler, and a list of potential errors can be displayed in the client company.

The possibility to choose a role center that fits your needs is always a good thing, so we added the possibility to use Eagle – Single Company role center even if the company type on the Eagle Setup page is not configured as a Single Company. Following this we changed the caption of the role center from Eagle Service Agency to Eagle – Service Agency so the names align.

When it comes to date filters, we added support for specifying Start Time and End Time when using Date Filters on the configuration of Eagle KPIs and Functions. This is useful, for example, to filter on “today between 12:00 – 5:00 PM”. And also, the ability to use Combined Filter as the date calculation type on Date Filters page. This allows combining date formulas and date ranges, providing more filter options.

A new release of Anysys Connect is out and in this version, we added a new method, DoStatusChangeOnDocument which enables the modification of onHold and dueDate for a posted document.

We have also changed during the Final Post process; the Posting Date and Document Date fields undergo validation and get updated.

In version 23.1 of Eagle, we added a new company type on the Eagle Setup page, called Single Company. For businesses that want to use Eagle for just the current company, there is now a more user-friendly interface on a new page called My Company. With Eagle – Single Company, you can also utilize the role center of the same name. On the role center, we have gathered the functionality from Eagle that you need for the company you are working with.

When it comes to KPIs we have made a bunch of things. We have added support for tables with the type of CRM, which enables KPIs to be created for Dataverse tables. We changed the filter in the KPI template Overdue Sales Invoice Amount from Closing Balance – Current Day to Closing Balance – Yesterday. We also added a check when a change from Client to Service Agency on the Eagle Setup page to ensure there are no Advanced KPIs linked to another Service Agency. Also, implemented a confirmation prompt recommending the selection of Service Agency & Client instead.

Function Setup has gotten the much-appreciated feature Use Template, allowing you to choose from a template even if you choose the New action. We also added public functions on the Function Setup table to enable PTEs to create functions. Last, on this subject we added new functionality to Export Incoming Documents (G/L Entry) along with attachments and incoming document files. Export Incoming Documents (G/L Entry) report has object ID 70337385.

Another great feature we added is Regional Settings Code on the Settings for My Companies page, allowing control over language and regional settings.

We also made one more tiny delivery, Eagle 23.2, containing just one single feature. We added the Enqueue Report (Excel) and Enqueue Report (PDF) actions on the My Companies and the My Company pages. The actions can be moved to the desired location by selecting the Personalize action.

First, this version has a dependency on version 23 of Business Central, so if you are interested in features in this release, make sure you are on Business Central 23.

So, in this version, we have added support for setting custom charsets to use when connecting to FTP servers. We have also added the possibility to change the sorting order of the tables configured on an External System. This will affect the order in which the tables are synchronized when performing the actions Full Sync or Init Unsynchronized.

We have changed a few existing features, for example, the External Subsystem Group is now deleted if the External System is deleted.

We also changed to ensure that an old version of a record is not synchronized. Due to the data caching mechanism in Business Central, an older version of a modified record could be retrieved when an external system was synchronized before this change.

Sometimes things do not go as planned and therefore we have made two fixes. First, we fixed an issue where the Find Entries action on the Integration Queue History page opened two pages instead of one. Second, we fixed an issue where the full synchronization was not being fully performed when looping all records too fast.

We have also removed several obsoleted fields, functions, events, and actions.

Parrot 22.9 is out and about, and this version contains added functionality to create custom invoice texts. It is possible to configure invoice texts with dynamic and fixed placeholders. You can create invoice text for both recurring and non-recurring contract lines, and you can do this both through the Contract Setup page and on the Contracts page.

We also added several API pages that can be used to create or update contracts through web services. Find all Parrot API pages in the Technical reference.
